"Safed" is a Hindi word meaning "white".
By makitextile studio
This is the second exhibition at taishoji.
With a "white" theme, we will have many items available that are perfect for the upcoming season.
The following is from representative Maki Chiaki.
-----------------------------------------------
The Ganga Maki workshop, located at the foot of the Himalayas, offers a variety of "whites."
White silk spun by hand from local cocoons, unbleached banana and ramie, unbleached wild tussah silk, white hemp and wool, and white cotton.
There are many different materials that come in off-white, but none of them are pure white; I feel that the natural color and texture of the material itself is powerful and beautiful.
In "Safed," we weave these materials together to create clothing, stoles, and a variety of fabrics for everyday life.
Stoles and clothes for the beginning of autumn.
Silk Apron,
Apron made of cotton, linen and silk fabric.
And Himalayan wool
There are also a few loincloths, drapes, and hats.
For interior decoration we have silk rugs, cotton rugs, wool rugs, various cushion covers, room dividers, etc.
Tea mats, drawstring bags, dish towels, linen x silk cloths, etc.
There is also a wide variety of cloth accessories available.

During the exhibition on September 15th (Friday) and September 16th (Saturday),
You can enjoy lunch prepared by Rakesh, a staff member of Ganga Maki Studio.
Rakesh was the one who inspired us to start the Ganga Maki workshop in the foothills of the Himalayas in northern India.
The kodu chapati and green chutney made by Rakesh's mother were
Maki says it was a taste she would never forget.
Hot and freshly baked chapati
Himalayan barnyard millet is commonly eaten in the US instead of rice.

A kind of buckwheat cookie made only from kodu flour, thought to be eaten only in villages at the foot of the Himalayas called Bari.
Enjoy it with green chutney, an essential ingredient in village rice, made from green chilies, coriander, and other ingredients ground on a stone slab.
After the meal, we will serve you special chai and rustic mountain sweets.
You probably won't find this anywhere else in Japan.
Enjoy nutritious cuisine handed down from ancient times in Himalayan mountain villages.
We hope you will all enjoy it.
